- A business plan is a formal statement of a largely enforced business goal, the reasons why they are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching those goals. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.
Business plans may also target changes in perception and branding by the customer, client, tax-payer, or larger community. A business plan that has changes in perception and branding as its primary goals is called a marketing plan.
Why should you have to come up with a business plan to get a job? This company may be using this method to steal good ideas for promoting their products and then may not hire you after they take your ideas. Do they have products that are new to the marketplace?
What is the product?
What is the price?
What kind of promotion should be used to present it to the public?
Where should it be sold (door-to-door, on TV, in the mall, etc.)?
Who is your competition?
What is your competition's share of total sales of this product and how can your product be shown to be better (or at least different enough that your product can take sales away from the competition)?
Are the the competition's sales rising or falling? If they're falling, maybe there's too many companies selling this product.
So, that's some things to thinks about. And see the link below. There's also software out there to step you through building a business plan, but it's a lot of work if you don't get the job in the end. So be careful that these guys aren't just pulling your chain just to get some of your great ideas.
