I want to create a restaurant. How do I do it?

I want to create a restaurant that will be popular. I have the idea. The restaurant is like a Universal Studios restaurant. I want to have the same popularity as those restaurants. How should I create the business plan for it? Where would be a good location? What would be some good marketing strategies? What are some step-by-step guidelines to creating a good restaurant? 1. Step one should probably be creating an idea and then writing that idea down in a business plan. Also how do I find investors and how would you negotiate with these investors to only pay a certain precent of interests of of your restaurant? How should I create contracts for my employees? Answer all these questions and any other marketing questions that could be answered about opening a restaurant.
  2. Graduate high school, go to college, get a business degree, and then think about opening your restaurant. A ridiculously large number of small businesses fail every year, so you need to have a back-up plan in place in case your Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock or whatever type of thing you're going for doesn't pan out.
  3. 1) You need at least some money to start. Very few investors will support you if you don't have skin in the game yourself
    2) My advice would be to buy a book first. There are tons of literature about developing a business plan. Go to a large bookstore and look through the available literature
    3) The business plan will help you think through the location, branding, cuisine, and segment that you want to attract
    4) The negotiation part depends on how attractive your business plan is. They will evaluate the risk of your business and would want a return that is higher the more risky their investment appears to be. Don't be surprised if they want 30% return on their investment (not from day one, but over a couple of years)
    5) You don't need a contract to hire people. You can write an offer letter, but you probably want to get advice from a lawyer to ensure you follow all the local and federal requirements for hiring people

    Good luck!
  4. You don't 'create' a restaurant. You 'open' one.
  5. most restaurant fail
and you need lots and lots of $$$$ to open the type you are taking about
    BE CAREFUL
  6. Many colleges have Hospitality Divisions that would include classes in all of the areas you mentioned. Look into your local community colleges.
